Screen printing provides a durable graphic with vibrant colors. Screen printing is best for designs that require a high level of vibrancy and have one or many colors.
Our Screen Printing Process
The screen printing process is extremely “hands on” ensuring that you are receiving a quality product. The first step in the screen print process is artwork preparation. The artwork is prepared and separated into it’s individual color components. Each color of the design is printed on individual transparent films. A screen is made of a piece of mesh stretched over a frame. For the mesh to be effective, it must be mounted on a frame and it must be under tension. The screens are coated with emulsion. The images are then placed on the screen and it is placed inside an exposure unit where it is exposed to a light source. The light exposure hardens the emulsion, except where the image is. The screen is washed off thoroughly. The areas of emulsion that were not exposed to light dissolve and wash away, leaving a negative stencil of the image on the mesh. The screen is placed on the press, and the shirt is loaded onto the pallet. Ink is forced into the mesh openings by the fill blade or squeegee. As the screen rebounds away from the shirt ink remains.
